Applications

Metalworking Lubricants

Blown (Oxidized) Soybean Oil

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 68152-81-8

For alkyd resins, coatings and printing inks. Also a fixative for essential oils in insect repellents and a binder for aggregates and composites.

Used in: Alkyd resins, paints and coatings, printing inks, industrial and metalworking lubricants, binder for aggregates, dust control

Blown (Oxidized) Rapeseed Oil

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 68554-11-0

A polar oil with strong pigment wetting and lubricity. Its affinity for water makes it a good additive for marine lubricants, and because it is non-drying it suits ribbon inks.

Used in: Marine lubricants, metalworking fluids, drawing and non-ferrous metal processing, release agents, emulsifiable oils, plasticizers, ribbon inks, pigments, paints and enamels

PEG 200 Adipate

Nonionic Surfactants

Used in: Lubricant additive for water-based systems, industrial and metalworking lubricants

PEG 400 Adipate

Nonionic Surfactants

Used in: Plasticizers, solubilizers, metalworking lubricants

Smithol 22LD

Esters · CAS 68187-85-9

Exceptional metal and fiber wetting. Clings to hot metal, displaces water and breaks emulsions, with a low pour point. Replaces rapeseed oil in drawing, stamping, rolling and forging lubricants.

Used in: Drawing, stamping, rolling, forging and wire drawing lubricants, rust preventatives, de-emulsifiers, stripping oil from waste water, textile spin finishes, leather treating

Smithol 50B3

Esters · CAS Proprietary

Good lubricity with a low acid value and a stable cloud point.

Used in: Industrial lubricant additives, metalworking lubricants, cutting oils, greases, leather treatments

Smithol 55

Esters · CAS 915099-00-2

Water-attractive. Produces fine-particle emulsions with good metal wetting.

Used in: Synthetic lubricants, drawing and rolling compounds for non-ferrous metals

Smithol 76

Esters · CAS Proprietary

Sulfurizes well, with good solvency and good oxidation stability.

Used in: Industrial and metalworking lubricants, rust inhibitors

Smithol 774

Esters · CAS Proprietary

For heavy-duty lubrication. Promotes anti-seize properties in metalworking lubricants, and has a high flash point.

Used in: Industrial and metalworking lubricants, rust prevention

Smithol 76-1000

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 125252-45-1

Developed to replace blown sperm oil. Excellent solvency in petroleum stocks, and promotes anti-seize properties.

Used in: Metalworking lubricants, metal stamping, deep drawing and bottle tube drawing, rust inhibitors

Smithol 300M

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 68389-85-5

A semi-drying, lower-viscosity fish oil.

Used in: Metalworking lubricants, metal stamping, rust-preventative coatings

R60Z5

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 68082-77-9

Performs much like S60Z5. Wets hot metal readily and acts as a scavenger in mixtures containing chlorinated paraffin. Small additions to naphthenic oils give long-term outdoor storage protection.

Used in: Marine lubricants (water absorption medium), metalworking oils, long-term outdoor rust preventives

Smithol CDR-G

Blown (Oxidized) Oils · CAS 68082-79-1

A domestic replacement for crude degras with a mild, stable waxy odor. Strong polar attraction to metal, and forms invert emulsions much like natural degras.

Used in: Metalworking compounds, industrial lubricants, leather treating

S60L-P

Heat Polymerized (Kettle Bodied) Oils

Semi-drying.

Used in: Metalworking lubricants, glazing putties, caulking compounds, sealants, marine lubricants, rust-preventative compounds, plasticizers, surfactants
